They Story of Guy

So my friend Guy (drummer from England), has pretty much had the worst luck since he's been in Hong Kong.  First off, he's technically not an exchange student, but he's a visiting student (since his home university, university of Bath, doesn't have a partnership with HKUST).  This means that UST was not obligated to provide him with housing, so he had to go off on his own looking for a place off campus.  He ended up in a shed behind a house,  which was supposed to be temporary.  The landlord said he could move into the house in a few weeks, and the shed was fine for the time being.  However, the landlord was renting the shed out to Guy illegally.  So when the landlady above Guy's landlord was about to find out about this illegal business, Guy's landlord kicked him out with only two hours notice.
This happened last Wednesday, so Guy had to pack up everything and leave.  That night he was able to stay in our Filipino friend, Dos', room in Hall VI,  on the floor.  Security is pretty tight in most of the residence halls, so its hard to sneak friends late.  He then spent the next two nights in the library on campus, since he had deadlines.  On top of this, he lost his wallet 3 weeks ago and has no access to money or any IDs, and has had to borrow from friends.
Last Saturday, we went to the beach to celebrate Guy's birthday,  it was a really nice relaxing and chill time.  Afterwards, Jeremy, my roomate, and I offered him to stay on the floor of our tiny room.  Managed to borrow a floor mattress from my local friend next door for 2 nights for Guy.  It was really cramped in that room with three people, but it was good for Guy to get some actual sleep.

Since Guy was kicked out, I had been networking with many different people, including locals to find out some options for Guy.  Thankfully one of them came through for me.  Marcus was able to arrange with another local student who wanted to move out of his room in House V, to let Guy rent his room for the rest of the semester.  This is the cheapest option, but its kinda risky.  Guy has to be back before 11 each night if he wants to get in the building, because his ID card, which he also currently doesnt have, won't give him access to the building.  Luckily the guards in hall v are pretty lax with security, and many locals are living there, even though they technically aren't residence.  Housing is really scarce and hard to find in Hong Kong, so some of the guards are nice and look the other way.  If that doesn't work, there is a secret window entrance the locals showed us, however its really dangerous, but doable.
So now it looks like Guy and I will be hall mates,  living on the same floor too, which is pretty sweet.  The locals have been super nice as always and really came through.
